How to Make the Best Rice

If you are like me, then you eat rice at almost every meal. Sometimes the rice can come out too mushy, or even still hard like you didn’t add enough water. When I first started learning how to cook rice, I read so many articles. Some were helpful, some were too fancy. The best thing to do to make the best rice is to KISS. YEP… I said it KISSKeep It Simple Sweety 😉

There is no magic wand, no secret ingredient, and there certainly isn’t any fancy brand to buy. The one fancy thing that helped me make the best rice… A Rice Cooker. What? Is it that simple? Yes. Remember KISS. The one person who showed me how to make my life simple was my sister. She said to put the rice in, put water in, flip the button, and when it is done, it’s done.

Well, how is this the best rice, this just sounds like any ol’ rice recipe.

Here is the reason why it is the best rice. Two reasons: One, wash the rice before you cook it. I used to think that wasn’t necessary. I used to just add rice add water and away I went. Now, after washing my rice first, it has made a great difference and I will always wash my rice now. Second: The tip and secret are when the rice gets done when the button flips to cool. You need to immediately take it out of the rice cooker and allow it to cool. The reason this makes it the best is the final result. You do not have mushy rice, or you do not have burnt rice on the bottom from leaving it too long. Making more of a mess for you to clean up and having to soak your rice pot.

Utilizing the Rice Cooker was the easiest meal prep hack ever. It made cooking dinner, food for the week, and special occasions way easier. I did not have an extra burner going on the stove top anymore. I could focus my time on preparing everything else while the rice cooked. And then once it is done, I just removed it to cool, allowing myself to go back to what I was doing. The convenience was every bit worth the KISS method.

Ok ok, that’s cool but it isn’t that magical.

Whelp, the magic is your own creation of what you want your rice to taste like.

This is where all the fancy recipes come into play, and you can add broth instead of water. You can add seasoning flavors to your water before cooking the rice. Whatever you enjoy your preference to be, that is your own creativity.

Let’s take Chipotle’s Rice for example. They use herbs and seasonings while the rice cooks to make their rice taste the way it does. Let’s take Hispanic Rice. The recipes call for seasonings, and different broth, then just plain ol’ water.

So, if you want magical rice, you need to tap into your creativity of what you want your rice to taste like.

If you want the best rice, wash your rice before cooking. Utilize a Rice Cooker, and when the switch flips to cool, take it out immediately and let it cool.
